Choosing a PWC Port or Kayak Launch

Drive-on ports are floating polyethylene platforms. You drive the craft up onto rollers or bunks and it sits dry. The right port depends on what you are storing and what kind of dock it attaches to.

Match the port to the craft

  • Personal watercraft. EZ Port PWC ports include the 2i, which EZ Dock rates at 1,700 lb, and wider models. Connect-A-Port XL5 and XL6 ports handle craft up to four seats, and Connect-A-Dock says two XL5 ports fit in a standard 10 ft slip.
  • Small boats. EZ BoatPort handles small boats up to about 3,000 lb, with bunk kits for flatter or deeper V hulls. The larger Optimus BoatPort is built from modular sections.
  • Pontoons. The EZ Pontoon FloatPort is made for pontoons and tritoons about 16 to 30 ft long.
  • Kayaks and canoes. The EZ Kayak Launch has a V-shaped entry with rollers and guide rails, and YAKport launches attach to Connect-A-Dock, fixed or floating docks.

Check how it attaches

EZ Dock ports connect to EZ Dock sections with couplers, and to other docks with adapter or hinge kits. Connect-A-Port has separate kits for fixed docks, floating docks and side-by-side ports. Order the kit that matches your dock, not just the port.

Keep it rolling

Rollers wear and are model-specific. EZ Port roller kits are sold by model (2i/MAX, 260/280 or VXP), in long or short shafts and bolt-in or rubber-expander mounts. Look at the old roller before ordering. See EZ Port accessories and rollers and Optimus BoatPort accessories.

Common mistakes

  • Ordering rollers by color instead of model and shaft length.
  • Forgetting the mounting kit for a fixed dock.
  • Choosing a port by boat length without checking the weight rating.

Kayak launch railings and adapters are in EZ Kayak Launch accessories. For help matching a port to your dock, call 618-294-6905.

PWC & Kayak Ports FAQ

Will a drive-on PWC port work with my dock?

Usually, with the right mounting kit. EZ Dock ports connect to EZ Dock sections with couplers and to other docks with adapter or hinge kits. Connect-A-Port offers kits for fixed docks, floating docks and side-by-side ports. Tell Blue Ridge Boat Docks your dock type before ordering.

How many PWC ports fit in a boat slip?

Connect-A-Dock says up to two Connect-A-Port XL5 ports fit in a standard 10 ft boat slip. The XL5 measures 59 x 156 in. and the XL6 is 72 x 156 in. Measure the inside width of your slip and leave room to drive on and step off.

Which EZ Port roller kit do I need?

EZ Port roller kits are specific to the port model, such as 2i/MAX, 260/280 or VXP. Within each, kits come with long or short shafts and either bolt-in or rubber-expander mounting. Check the model and look at how the old roller is mounted before ordering a replacement.

Is there a port for pontoon boats?

Yes. The EZ Pontoon FloatPort is a drive-on floating port made for pontoons and tritoons about 16 to 30 ft long. It can be set up with bow stops, a bridge section to connect to EZ Dock, and a winch. Parts and accessories are sold separately.
