This category covers two modular polyethylene systems, EZ Dock and Connect-A-Dock. Both float on molded sections that link together, but their couplers, connectors and accessories are not interchangeable. Know which system you have before you order anything.
Ladders, hinges and connectors are made for one height. A 1000 Series ladder won't sit right on a 2000 Series dock.
Anchoring is where most floating dock problems start. EZ Dock rates its standard-duty pipe brackets for about 2 ft waves and heavy-duty brackets for about 3 ft waves and deeper water. The 250-series brackets take 2-3/8 in. OD pipe, and the 350-series take 3-1/2 in. OD pipe. EZ Dock says to drive pipe at least 3 ft, or one-third of the water depth, into the bottom. Not directly. EZ Dock and Connect-A-Dock use different couplers, connectors and accessory mounts, so parts from one system won't fit the other. EZ Dock does sell adapter and hinge kits for connecting some of its products to other docks. Tell Blue Ridge Boat Docks what you have before ordering.
EZ Dock's main options are pipe brackets, piling brackets, deadweights and stiff arms. Standard-duty pipe brackets are rated for about 2 ft waves and heavy-duty for about 3 ft. Its rule of thumb is to sink anchor pipe at least 3 ft into the bottom, or one-third of the water depth.
Low profile docks sit closer to the water, about 8 in. for Connect-A-Dock 1000 Series and EZ Dock low profile sections, which suits swimming and kayaks. Higher sections, about 17 in. for Connect-A-Dock 2000 Series, line up better with pontoons and runabouts.
