Should I choose an aluminum or galvanized truss section?
DAKA lists a 4 x 8 ft aluminum truss section at about 51 lb and a steel section at about 83 lb. Aluminum is lighter to handle each season. Steel can span farther, up to 32 ft versus 24 ft for aluminum per DAKA. Both use the same 12 in. deep truss design.
What is a universal truss section?
DAKA universal sections come in 4 x 8 and 4 x 4 ft sizes. DAKA says they work with roll-in wheel kits, stabilizer poles or floats, so the same section can be set up as a roll-in, standing or floating dock. Decking options are cedar or Titan.
Do I need a wheel end kit for a roll-in truss dock?
Yes, if the dock will roll in and out. Wheel end kits come in straight (4 x 8), platform (8 x 8) and super platform (12 x 8) versions, and in steel truss and aluminum truss versions. Match the kit to your frame material and end layout.
